If you enable the change history, the system tracks changes made to a key figure including any interactive changes.
In non-normalized systems, an increased number of historical records can impact system performance. You, therefore, need to decide carefully which key figures and sources of change you want to enable change history for. We recommend that you select a maximum of 3 key figures for change tracking.
To be able to track changes to a calculated key figure correctly, you need to enable all stored key figure inputs to that calculated key figure for change history. Otherwise, the effect of changes on the calculated key figure may be incorrect.
We can build change-history-based calculations on the key figure values in past data-sharing events, or on the values recorded in the change history of key figures.
The dedicated history key figure and the key figure to be tracked must have the same base planning level.
In the search bar type planning area in the web UI. After that, all the planning areas will appear on the screen. Select the planning area in which you want to enable change history for the key figure. If the enable change history option is clicked, then you can proceed and if not then you have to check this box so that you can enable change history for your key figure.
Select the option key-figure to display all the key figures available in that planning area.
We can enable change history for only those key figures if they are stored or stored and calculated both.
Enable change history option is not available for calculated key figures.
Select the check box to enable change history. After doing this click on save at the bottom. Let us assume that the planning area is initially active. After clicking on enable change history and saving it, the status of the planning area changes from active to inactive.
After clicking on enable change history and saving it the status of the planning area changes to inactive. Click on activate so that the status of the planning area changes from inactive to active.
Wait until activation is complete. If it only shows warning prompt, then there is no problem and if there are errors then the activation will fail and you have to look for errors to solve it.
Now you can see that the status of the planning area is active.
Go to the excel add-in and click on the SAP IBP.
After clicking on Log On select the connection in which you have clicked to enable change history.
Fill the credentials to log on.
Go to a new view and click on the dropdown to select the available options.
As you can see in the above picture there are three options available. You can select any one of the above two i.e. either planning view without a template or with the template. Select the planning view and proceed to the next step.
Provide time profile, attribute, and key figure in the planning view. You can also provide some filters if you want some specific location, product, or customer combination. After completing the above process click ok and the new sheet will open.
15. There are little data I have already filled out. Here I took location ID, Product ID, and Customer ID as attributes and Actuals Quantity as a Key-Figure. After that, I filled in some data by myself and took key figure time profile level as technical week as you can see in the above picture. After filling the data for key-figure (Actuals quantity), I saved the data from the option given as SAVE DATA.
I entered the data myself and then I saved it, now to track the change in the key-figure data I again filled some values for different planning levels as you can see in the above picture, and again saved it. It is done so that we can track the changes which has been done by someone.
17.Search for Change History Analysis in the SAP IBP. Fill in the data (Planning Area, version, Key-Figure, Attributes, Time Period, Time range of Changes, etc.) and after filling in data click on Original changes.
18.Now you can see all the key figures whose value has changed are tracked in the history analysis app. Here you can see what are the original values, what are the values of the key-figure after the change, and what are the differences between the original values and new values.
If you want to track the change in the excel add-on go to the new view and click on dropdown, from there select the change history view on the current sheet. Planning view will open after you select change history view on current sheet. Select the time profile, attribute, and key figures and click on OK.
From there you can see the time of change, who made the changes in the key figure value, what are the original values and what are the new values, what is the difference between the original value and new value.
